Remembering My Azul

January 14, 2019

I heard a bird chirp in the dark of winter.

A magical thing.

I thought it was Azul.

But no, it wasn't him, for he had long taken flight, spreading his blue wings up into a cloudless sky.

               Thus in the winter

              stands the lonely tree,

                Nor knows what birds

             have vanished one by one.
